We had wonderful weather for riding and for everyone to work of the winter riding rust. Here's a short ride report from Hatman:
After a meeting where we discussed helping the Rogers Animal Shelter, we rolled out with 14 bikes and 2 passengers. It was good to meet Lori (not sure of the proper spelling), Lee's friend and Wayne, Mitch's oldest son.
The roads were clear and the day sunny as we headed east towards the Missouri cutoff. At Seligman, Rip and Smokey peeled off, leaving us with 12 bikes to continue the ride. I, as usual, moved into my favorite ride position as far back as possible and just before Jack, while everyone else followed Jason on a variety of scoots.
Going north, the roads get a little tighter and the obstacles a little more unusual. Jason said an older lady thrown a milk shake container out on the road which exploded in front of him, while I almost got to shake hands with a biker going in the opposite direction. We were both hugging the line in a up and down curve when we saw each other. There was no time to swerve, just ride it out. Jack said it looked like we were going to hit pegs but I am here to write this, so its ok.
After a brief stop to let Rick air up his tire in Noel, we shot over to "Cotton Eyed Joe's" restaurant to eat. There we met Miss Marda, and family. They were down from Iowa with the grandchildren so even though she didn't ride with Clyde, she still participated in part of the event.
It was too early for the buffet, but Joe's menu has a lot to tempt the hungry biker. The loaded baked potato with chopped brisket was good and 2 rolls, several glasses of iced tea only set me back $6.80. I also got to sample their cheese/jalapeño balls, little nuggets of deep fried gooey cheese, laced with jalapeño juice. I saw several large salads, burgers and sliced meats hitting our tables so everyone appeared happy.
I had to leave then to return to chores so I can't say how the ride ended. For all those who didn't get to go, you missed a good time. Next month is the ride to the Saunders Gun Museum in Berryville. Hope to see you in the parade.
